That's right, the Bird flew in from the West!! My brother Matthew came to visit us and we had a blast. He "flew" in Wednesday night to a mild Colorado night. When we woke-up Thursday morning, I guess Thurs. afternoon for Matthew, we woke to a foot of fresh snow. So the next day Matthew and I had to take advantage of the fresh powder and we went snowboarding. We didn't exactly realize how early the snowboarding season was and when we got to the mountain, only 1 lift was open with 2 runs. They were opening more of the mountain the next day- BUMMER!! Eventhough the lift line took a good 1/2 hour we had so much fun. The weather was perfect and it felt great to be back on the mountain. Even more perfect was the fact that Matthew got a pass for $10 rather than $40!! How does he always seem to get the deals??
On Saturday we went to the BYU vs. Air Force Football Game. Thanks to the crazy CO weather, it was about 70 degrees at the game. It went from a foot of snow, to melted mush in about a day. We met our friends and a ton of BYU fans. We won which made the game that much better. That night we got to visit with Doug's Grandparents who were here from UT. It was so great to see them. We then went to the Trunk o' Treat and came home and watched The Office. Can you say HILLARIOUS!!! We watched the Sexual Harrassment episode and almost died laughing. Michael is the most inappropriate, crazy "manager" ever. Sunday the Bird had to catch a flight to go back to his nest. His little chicky sure misses him and the mother hen as well. We loved having him here with us. He's always welcome anytime to our nest!!!

Trying to Live with a "Lost" Addiction
I haven't posted in awhile due to mine and Doug's OBESESSION with "LOST". It's sickening, but we are literally obsessed!! As most of you know, Doug is not a "night owl" like myself, however, last Friday night we stayed up until 3 AM watching 8 episodes. I think we have finally caught up on sleep (a week later) and am proud to say we have made it through the first season. Only all of season 2 and the a few episodes of season 3 left to go. We are trying to pace ourselves, so we watch about 3 episodes a night. What's hillarious is how much convincing I had to do to get Doug to watch it. And I quote, "I don't want to watch Gilligan's Island." I had to bribe him with a treat off of Steap and Cheap, but now he's an addict. Eventhough our nights have been CONSUMED with "Lost", we have been doing some fun things lately. . .
Last Tuesday night was our first snow fall. Yeah, not so excited. Jaden didn't get to play in it until Thursday. I dressed him in his winter clothes and realized he really needs a new snow hat (check-out the picture). Thanks to the fact that our home faces North, we will probably have snow on our lawn all winter. We then went to the park and Jaden had a great time eating the snow- YUMMY!! On Friday, Doug got to go on a guided fishing trip with his Dad and 2 buddies. He fished on a private river and had to deal with some extreme weather. He caught quite a bit of fish. Thank goodness it was catch and release so I didn't have to cook any of them. Saturday we went to the Meadows annual Pumpkinfest with our friends the Joslyn's. It was perfect weather, so I had Jaden in his costume. I have had this costume since August and since August Doug has wanted NOTHING to do with it. I will say that when we were taking pictures of Jaden in the pumpkin maze and the Douglas County Newspaper Photographer was taking pictures of him, Doug finally admitted Jaden looked adorable as a very MANLY CHICKEN. We'll let you know if he made it into the paper. Finally it's Sunday!! Not exactly a relaxing 3 hours of church with a one year old, however, he looked pretty MANLY in his sport coat. Fall is moving along and we're having a fun time taking advantage of the nice weather. How blessed we are to have such a healthy little boy and have friends that have "Lost" on DVD.

A Hiking and a Walking Weekend

Jaden is walking all over the place. He cruises all over the house. You can tell because he has a few bruises from taking some spills, but he gets right up and goes for it again. It's so much fun to watch.
P.S. Grey's Anatomy was replayed Friday night- thank goodness!

TV Drama
Wow people actually read this stuff, who would have thought. I am so bummed right now because I just got home from work and I was really looking forward to watching Grey's Anatomy- yes, I have been sucked into another show. Too bad someone didn't TiVo it (I won't name names). It's not like the baseball playoffs and football were on. Why does Fall have to include not only season premieres, but major sporting events? We're going to have to figure something out. One more thing, why do babies enjoy eating sand?? Just a question, not that Jaden did that at the park today HAHA!

I'm a Virgin Blogger

So I have decided to start a Blog. I know, that's what everyone says, but I think this will be a great way for me to feel like I'm keeping a journal. Is this cheating?? Oh well, if it is. It's so funny because I miss writing. When you're in school you are required to write. . . keep a journal of your readings, write a research paper, blah blah blah. You don't realize how much you miss expressing yourself until you sit down and write (or type). Okay, enough of this, let's get to the fun stuff.
Now I have been in Colorado for just over a year and I think I have somewhat adjusted. Is it bad that I still literally crave salt water? I guess it's in my blood and that's okay. I love being outside and I know my time is limited now that the leaves are turning. Winter will come and I will have to get creative with Jaden. He's starting to walk and it cracks me up. It's funny when he gets going and then takes a spill. He doesn't give up, eventhough he is a little "top heavy", as my sisters say (his head is in the 90th percentile while his body is 5%). It's too cute. These are truly the words of a new Mom. Everything is exciting and new for us. Doug and I have learned to appreciate so many "little" things, like peek-a-boo, clapping, pointing (which he does constantly), throwing food off his tray (we tell him "NO", but he just smiles and we melt), and slurping down his string cheese. Everyday is full of firsts and it's exciting to experience. We are so blessed to have a healthy son in our life.
