Hiking with My Buddy

I just downloaded pictures and had to post pics from our first Mom/Son hike we did Wednesday morning. We "hiked" a trail with 2 other Mom's and their little ones. It was so much fun to be out and hike around. I am trying to appreciate where we live more, since lately all I want to do is go to the beach, yeah I'm a little homesick. The summer does that to me! I had Jaden in the backpack for awhile but then my back was killing. Obviously I'm a rookie at this.

Thanks M.E.

I was just checking my friend Fergie's blog and little did I know, she is now a pro-blogger and had downloaded music to her blog. Yesterday Jaden and I had been rocking out to some tunes and the volume was up rather HIGH. Well Jaden had been taking a nap until "Says M.E." appeared on my screen and Jaden woke -up...

Too funny (not for Jaden but for his parents, obviously I had to take a picture)!! I LOVE YOU Fergie!

Your Son has an Arm!

Today. . . waiting at the doctor's office with Jaden- a 20 month old that THROWS everything, and a number of other patients.

Mom: "Jaden would you like some string cheese?"
Jaden: Shakes his head "yes" and grabs the cheese. Eats about 3/4 of it and drops the rest on the floor.
Mom: "Jaden, go throw the rest in the trash."
Jaden: Throws the cheese from about 20 yards away and nails a lady in the head as she is reading a magazine.
Mom: "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry."
Lady: "Your son has an arm."
Jaden: "Throw, throw, throw."
Nurse: "Shauna Brown, we're ready for you."
Mom: Running to get out of that waiting room.
Jaden: "Throw, throw, throw."

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

This weekend we were supposed to go to a Rockies Game Friday night, which moved to Saturday night, which never happened. Doug was sick all weekend so it was a big time bummer. I was able to plant flowers and hang out with Whitney and her little boy Scottie, while Doug was sick and Will worked. Jaden and Scottie have too much fun together. Here are pictures from going to a game a few weeks ago where we saw Barry Bonds and heard a lot of booing.
BEST Papas ever!

I LOVE Scottie's face in this picture!

False Alarm, dang it!!

Once again, I should be catching some ZZZZZZs but I'm not. Jaden woke-up at 2 am and stayed up until 4:15 am, I know, lucky me! He of course acted as if it was 2 in the afternoon and had to watch Elmo, eat Kix, strawberries, and drink some milk- normal right?? I'm tired and Doug isn't feeling well. He's drugged up on Nyquil and a minute ago I heard some talking, so I ran in the bedroom in hopes of a repeat of "Burritos y Arroz con Leche", but false alarm. Obviously if Doug busts out some humorous conversation, I will for sure blog about it.
P.S. Lisa, go pack!!!

I Feel lost without "Lost"

I checked my Tivo tonight when I got home and there was no "Lost" ready to watch. I'm all out of whack, I guess that's normal for me. Is this how it's going to be until FEBRUARY?? I guess I'll go finish reading New Moon (I'm hooked) and continue to dream of Edward and occasionally Jack.

Grandma Brown/ Great-Grandma Brown

Our Memorial Weekend was bitter sweet for the Brown Family. We had the opportunity to drive to Elko, NV for a Memorial Service for Grandma Brown. She had been sick for quite some time, so her passing was a blessing, yet very trying for all who loved her so much. It was wonderful to be with family and celebrate her incredible life. It was fun to see cousins and spend time together. Jaden was lucky enough to visit her when we were in Spain and share some special time with her.

Jaden was the best traveler ever!! He never watches movies, but was glued to Elmo and Nemo for the entire 12 hour drive.

Snacking on some McNuggets!

Brown Family outside the church

After the Service we went to Johnny Apple Seed Park to run around. Doug used to play here as a kid and still loves it!

Sunday we drove back to Salt Lake and were able to spend some time with Grandma June and Grandpa Osguthorpe.

After spending the night at Aunt Monica's and Uncle Joel's BEAUTIFUL home, we made our way back to CO!

Bragging About My Big Sis

Some of you may or may not know, but my sister Lisa brought Shade Clothing to Canada and is a Shade Rep., Personal Shopper, Trainer, etc. She was recently featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, the Business Start-Up Issue. There's a full page article about her and her business plan, as well as the above picture. If you're ever at Borders or Barnes and Noble check-out the issue (pg. 40). She is wonderful at what she does and I hope she knows how proud we are of her!

Flash Forward??

STOP READING THIS IF YOU HAVEN"T SEEN LOST!!!

I can't even breath right now after having just watched Lost. Doug and I are still in shock!! Are we the only ones? I've tried to talk to "others" (no pun intended) about this and either I get their voice mail (it is 12am) or they are in the middle of watching it and hang up on me. I need to go to bed since Jaden was up until 4:30 am last night/ morning, but my mind is racing, so I went to the good old blog!!

#1- Did anyone else cry when Charlie died? I was literally in tears! I don't want it to be true!
#2- Who's funeral was it? I'm thinking Ben's since nobody showed up.
#3- John Lock?? What is going on with him? I don't want to hate him, but kind of do. I am beyond confused!
#4- Who is Naomi?
#5- My Jack, my heart aches for him and I want to know what is going on?
#6- Is Kate with Sawyer after the island?
#7- I am finally thankful for the episode about the VW Bus- thanks Hurley for saving the day!
#8- I have so many questions I can't even think right now and how am I supposed to wait until next season???

I'm making myself go to bed. I think it's going to be another sleepless night- DANG IT!

Message from Dwight!

As most of you know, I am a huge Office fan! I talk to the boys at church about the show each week and they filled me in on a little secret! If you remember the episode 3 weeks ago about the Flasher and Women's Appreciation, there was a phone number to call if you had any information regarding the Flasher. It was on the flier that Pam drew of the "Flasher" (a.k.a. Dwight with a mustache) that Dwight and Andy put all over Scranton. I'm telling you right now to call the number: 1-800-984-3672, you won't be disappointed!

#5- The End- Segovia, Barcelona, and Madrid

I'm really wanting to get this travel log done, so those of you that visit this blog and are getting sick of Spain- sorry. It's been great reliving our trip again and I'm glad I'm documenting it, but enough already!

We left Madrid for a day trip to Segovia. Once again, a very neat town. It's famous for this Roman Aquaduct that was built over 2000 years ago and still stands. Notice the piece of pizza in Doug's hand- STORY:

I was of course starved since we hadn't eaten so Doug took me to Telepizza (like a Dominos). I had to go to the bathroom sooooo bad so I made my way to the restroom. I get there and the lights don't work, so I get the camera and turn it on (don't worry, no pictures) so there is at least a little light. I proceed to get toilet paper and there's none there, so I'm sitting there in the dark wondering what to do. Don't worry if a lady walks in on me in the dark and all I can say is, "No papel". She says something in Spanish which I don't understand and I sit waiting for a good 5-10 minutes. Finally I hear Doug say, "Shauna are you alright?". I tell him the situation and he finds me some napkins- better than nothing. I go to wash my hands and there sitting next to the sink which I can barely see is some toilet paper that the lady must have brought up. It was in a completely different part of the bathroom, how was I supposed to get it? I know bad visual, but it was quite the experience at Telepizza!

Trying to liven' up the photos!

The Alcazar de Segovia- the rumor is that Sleeping Beauty's castle is a replica of this castle. I didn't see any fairies, but I did see. . .

This is for those that watched the last season of The Amazing Race. I now totally understand how Charla fell a NUMBER of times when she had to wear the knight's armor, I mean look how pointed the shoes were. Doug and I were dying laughing and as I write this I can still see Charla wiping out and hearing Mirna say, "Hurry up Charla, my friend!!"

View from the top of the castle.

Not only do we have hundreds of pictures, we have it on video as well. I know a little obsessed, but priceless!

That night we had the very special experience of going to Ima's piso for an authentic Spanish meal and Family Home Evening with her nonmember family. It was probably the most spiritual night I have ever had. Doug still says the feelings he felt that night are undescribable for him. It was incredible!

The next day Doug took me around the areas he had served in as a Missionary. This is a chapel that is free-standing, hard to come by in Madrid.

The Old Mission Office that not only Doug spent a number of months in, but my Uncle Mike also worked there when he was a Missionary- crazy!

Real Madrid Stadium- We were looking for David Beckham and Posh- no luck. Lisa, notice my pillow, it went with me everywhere.

Cool Metro Station in Madrid

Off to Barcelona on an over-night train ride. We had never done anything like this and it was quite the experience. There were 6 people to a room and when we awoke the next morning (about 7:30am) we were in Barcelona.

Spaniards are night people, so when we got to Barcelona, nothing was open for a good 3 hours, so we walked and walked and walked!! Barcelona is my kind of city, on the water!

I wanted that yacht so bad!

We walked to the Sagrada Familia which is a Cathedral that was designed my Gaudi in the 1800's and is still not finished.

Coming back from the Cathedral we got so lost and even ending up at the Barcelona Zoo. Our feet were killing us! I guess we could have taken a taxi.

We went up this tower where you could take a tram ride and see all of Barcelona, but we just went up to the top and took pictures. You got the same view for half the price.

We then went to an open market where I had the best Papaya fruit juice and we saw a lot of interesting animal parts, beautiful flowers, yummy sweets, and fresh veggies. We were exhausted and headed back to the train station to take the over-night train back to Madrid. We both slept like babies!

Our last full day in Madrid we had to have authentic Spanish Paella which I really thought was quite yummy.

We stayed at the hostel at the Madrid Temple which was wonderful. The temple looked incredible at night.

Going home! They planted an olive tree on the temple grounds after Doug had left Spain.

Getting on the Metro to go to the airport.

Doug was obsessed with Fanta in Spain. Apparently it's not the same in the States.

On the plane, working on Sudoku.

My favorite people from the last few days:
1- She just looked so peaceful.

2- This little guy didn't look so peaceful. Poor kids on a leash!

3- He was on every billboard in Barcelona- too funny!

4- This cutie was everywhere and I loved every minute of it, even when I was hungry! Thank you for the most unforgettable trip ever. You did the most amazing job planning our adventure and I loved seeing the places that have shaped you into the person you are today. I'm even more in love with you- thank you a million times! One more thing, we could so win The Amazing Race!

Next stop, REALITY!!!
